Reasons Your Vehicle Won't Start

If you go out to start your vehicle and nothing happens, you must consider several possible issues until you find the culprit:

• The battery is old, won't hold a charge, and needs to be replaced.

• The battery has been drained for some reason but will hold a charge once it's been recharged.

• There's another issue with your starting system besides the battery, which may include a fuse, the alternator, starter, or other components.

Sometimes, the problem lies with the connectors to the battery. If there is corrosion around the connections, it might prevent them from getting a charge. The wires may be worn and need to be replaced. Our Service Center will check these issues, clean the cables, and replace the wires, if needed.

When You Should Replace Your Battery

If you have to jump-start the battery multiple times, it means your battery won't hold a charge and must be replaced. You can also bring your vehicle to our Service Center where our technicians will test the battery with a voltmeter. When it drops below 12 volts, you should have the battery replaced.

A battery will typically last for three to seven years, depending on the brand. It's a good idea to have your battery tested by a professional at least once a year. It only takes about 30 minutes to replace the battery on most vehicles. Older models have the battery on top, while newer models may require other components to be removed to access the battery.
