Jeep Heritage, Reborn

The first iteration of the Jeep Gladiator went on sale in 1963 with two offered wheelbases and a lineup of powerful engines and remained in production until 1992. Now for the 2020 model year, the Jeep Gladiator is back! If you're a fan of Jeep and have been looking forward to the Gladiator, well the wait is almost over!

Wrangler Looks, With a Twist

From the front, the Jeep Gladiator provides the rugged looks and iconic design that you love from Jeep, and especially your favorite Wranglers. The traditional seven-slot grille has a slightly wider spacing between slots for better air intake to help keep the engine cool when towing. On the sides you'll see the classic Wrangler looks with features like removable doors and three top options. You have the choice between a three-piece hard-top in black, a body-paint matched cover, or a premium soft-top option. Choosing the soft-top allows you to enjoy fully open top positions and specially designed retainers to easily remove your rear window.

Bed Features

Behind the cab you'll find a five-foot bed; and we don't yet have any information if a longer bed option will be available in the future. Thankfully, the bed is spacious and features plenty of features, both standard and available, to make your life easier. Standard amenities include:

  • Under-Rail bed Lighting
  • Available Covered 115-volt 3-prong Outlet
  • Integrated Tie-Downs
  • Bed Divider
  • Available Trail Rail Cargo Management System

For added security of your cargo, you can opt for a tonneau cover to make sure your gear stays dry and out of view.

Interior Amenities

You'll find many of the same features as found on the Jeep Wrangler inside the new Gladiator including soft-touch surfaces, the Uconnect infotainment system with three display size options, and much more. You'll still get the rugged look at feel the Wrangler has, just with an updated style that brings more to the table. Cloth upholstery is included standard, though leather upholstery is available to add that has contrasting stitching accents. You can also add optional adjustable bolsters and lumbar support as well as heated seat bottoms for an added touch of comfort. The rear seats have a unique feature allowing them to be locked in place, so you can have a secure storage area behind the seat backs. They also fold flat for additional storage space.

Technology & Safety

The standard Uconnect system brings you a five-inch touchscreen, though you can add either a five-inch or 8.4-inch touchscreen display, depending on the extras you needs. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity systems are available with the seven and 8.4-inch Uconnect systems, along with two USB ports and even a USB-C port. If you're a music lover, you'll enjoy the available subwoofer and portable wireless speaker that is easily stored in the cabin.

Standard safety technology for your Gladiator in Chatham IL includes a ParkView rear backup camera with grid lines that move as you turn the wheel. Additional features include adaptive cruise control, electronic stability control with roll mitigation technology, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection.

Powerful Engines

Similarly to the Wrangler, the Gladiator features a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that puts out a punchy 285-horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, though you can add an eight-speed automatic if you prefer. This engine puts a focus on low-end torque which is ideal if you plan on taking your Gladiator off-roading or you're towing around Taylorville. A 3.0-liter EcoDiesel will be available as well with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

When we have more information about the new 2020 Jeep Gladiator, we'll be sure to share it with you. Keep checking back in and you can easily be one of the first to get your hands on this exciting new truck from Jeep in Springfield IL!
